Kevin Horne, Chief Executive of NWES, commented: “We are delighted to be involved with this years event. We have been encouraging enterprise and helping to support business start-ups for over 30 years. To be part of the Suffolk Business Exhibition and in particular be the sponsor of the Business Start Up Area fits perfectly into our mission to ‘encourage enterprise’. Over the last 5 years we have helped over 2500 new businesses to start trading. We are keen to see even more people to set up their own business, in a sustainable way. With our support, it has been proven that businesses survive longer, grow faster and are more profitable. Armed with my press pass and after show party pass, I had a brilliant time and was lucky enough to meet the band afterwards in the dressing rooms.

This was a very interesting meeting with the Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Chloe Smith, giving an overview of the British economy and a summary of the coalition government’s policies to help encourage small and medium sized businesses. The local MPs each gave an overview of the problems experienced by their constituents. Senior representatives of the major banks summarised the current approach of their respective organisations.
The meeting ended with a question and answer session where members of the audience addressed specific issues to the panel. For more details of the meeting, see the pdf above.
