Anglia Care Trust have had a busy summer raising awareness of the charity and everything we do.
One of the things we have been busy doing over the holiday period, is joining in the carnivals making a splash across the region. These have been impactful, allowing us to bring our brand to new audiences, whilst also showing up in the communities we serve. We have had a lot of fun, sharing in the moment with lots of other like-minded organisations, whilst bringing our brand to life. For us, it means people know who we are, what we stand for, and remember us when they see our logo.
Supporting our aim to raise brand awareness, our team of staff and volunteers have gifted their time to help march through a number of towns across the region. Our first carnival saw us visit Felixstowe, pulling in the locals and visitors…
The carnival commenced with the procession, with the over-arching theme being ‘Wonderful World of Books’. Together with our carnival mascot, we brought ‘That’s Not My Monkey’ to the town. To those that don’t know the book series well - this is an interactive children’s book that explores different animals, with different characteristics, looks, touch-and-feel elements, all unlike one another, all unique. The last page, finally reveals my/our monkey. We used this theme to explore the types of people we support and the challenges they may face – like having little money, limited friends, no place to call home etc.
Our monkey, carried a huge bag to demonstrate that many of those we support have a weight they carry; they can be burdened by everything happening around them. Our range of services helps to give the right, tailored support – personalised to individual needs and the “weight” on their shoulders. For us, this could mean that we support them with finding suitable housing, helping guide with personal finances and money troubles, helping people with their own mental health, overcoming drug or alcohol issues, escaping domestic abuse relationships and much more. Often a number of complexities, as a multi-service charity, we give people the stability, support and challenge they need to realise their full potential.
Our final carnival of the season saw us visit Lowestoft, one key area that we service. This marked the first proper street parade in the town since 2012 and drew in huge crowds.
Wrapping up our summer of fun, we have been invited to Art on The Prom in Felixstowe on Sunday 7th September – a vibrant exhibition of creativity and craftsmanship with over 100 talented artists, potters, photographers, craftspeople, jewellers, and woodworkers, all transforming Felixstowe’s Promenade.
Arts and crafts are a really popular activity within our Service User Engagement Programme. Every month we host art and craft days where our service users can come and be creative, enjoy conversations and share their experience and feedback, which help to shape our services.
If you find yourself free on Sunday and would like to come and see us and some of our service users’ creations, we will be at Felixstowe Seafront, close to The Pier/Leisure Centre. Entry is free and we will be there from 10am – 5pm.
