I absolutely loved the ABE event
Anglia Business Exhibition proved to be an excellent event, offering a valuable platform for networking and connecting with other professionals/ businesses + charities.
We started the day with a networking breakfast themed around the VE Day 80 celebrations. It was very well attended with guests enjoying networking and a delicious cooked breakfast. We heard from Suffolk Show Director, John Taylor, and his Father, Richard, who told us about the history of Debach Airfield and the how the farming land was used during WW2 by the 493rd Heavy Bomber Group, USAAF before returning to agricultural use after the war. We then heard from Ian Lisseman and John Howarth from Martlesham Heath Aviation Society. They shared some fascinating insights into the rich aviation history of Martlesham Heath.
ABE was officially opened at 10am with a ribbon cutting and the exhibition got into full flow. There was the usual friendly, warm atmosphere in the exhibition centre as businesses came together for a day of opportunities. There was a steady flow of visitors all day and highlights included the ever-popular speed networking sessions and the chance to test drive a Tesla.
The buzz continued throughout the day and was topped off with an impromptu coxless fours race along the main sponsor aisle on office chairs which resulted in much hilarity!
It was then time to draw the lucky raffle winners for our Charity of the Year, Suffolk Mind as well as prize draws from other exhibitors and then announce our winners for Best Stand (Co-op Juniors Theatre Company) and Best Stand Runner Up (Offset Films) – well done!
As everyone packed away their stands at the end of the day, there were still plenty of smiles but also excitement about what 2026 will bring!
Next year will be extra special as we will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of ISSBA and the 30th anniversary of ABE – watch this space for updates!
