Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1972, employers have a statutory duty to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of its employees. The New Domestic Abuse Statutory Guidance emphasises that employers have a duty of care towards employees experiencing domestic abuse and recommends that organisations have domestic abuse policy and/or guidance to support staff. The statistics are clear and there is now a compelling business and moral case for employers to do more to support employees who are victims of DA.
