Chair Report - September 2022

ISSBA Chair, Graham Barton, offers a snapshot of the latest ISSBA news

Graham BartonHello all. Welcome to the September ISSBA newsletter. The weather may have cooled slightly but things are heating up here at ISSBA with lots of exciting news this month!

What better way to get back into things after the summer break than launch straight back into networking with our Meet the Members networking event on Tuesday 20th September at Epsilon House, Ipswich. Join us for a warm welcome, networking and coffee or tea. As well as hearing about the facilities on offer, we are very excited to welcome Charity of the Year, Ipswich Deaf Children’s Society, who will be giving us a brief Deaf Awareness Training taster with a few BSL greeting signs at the end. Book your place now!

If that isn’t enough, you can now also book for our October and November events:

Anglia Business Spotlight 2022 on 18th October at Regus Franciscan House – one of our most popular annual events! Watch a panel of lucky ISSBA members being interviewed by BBC Radio Suffolk’s Georgy Jamieson about their businesses, and enjoy networking and refreshments. If you’d like to join our interview panel, please email mail@issba.co.uk by 16th September to apply. Book your place here

November Networking Event on 23rd November at DJV Boutique - friendly and welcoming networking event with coffee/tea. We will also be treated to a mini demo of their style revamp service and there will be a chance to look for some Christmas presents or top up your winter wardrobe! Book your place here

The really exciting news this month is that the wait is finally over! You will be able to book your exhibitor stands for Anglia Business Exhibition 2023 from Monday 12th September.

ABE2023 takes place next year on Wednesday 10th May and we are anticipating a high demand for stands this year so make sure you secure yours early. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please get in touch on contact@angliabusinessexhibition.com for a chat. There is a range of packages to suit different budgets so book now to make sure you get maximum benefit from the promotional opportunities. Click here to read our ABE23 update.

Our September Member of the Month is Ipswich Borough Council. Read their article to find out about some of the latest business programmes, as well as funding streams and events.

This month, we are treating you to not just one, but two really useful and informative articles:

ISSBA Committee Member, James Davey, shares some fantastic tips on how business can cope with the economic challenges that are currently facing us.

Are you a regular Podcast listener or do you wonder what it is all about? Either way, Larking Gowen have written an interesting piece called Podcasts — why we should be listening.

Would you be interested in joining the ISSBA committee? If so, let us know on mail@issba.co.uk. We are a friendly bunch and usually meet once per month (via Zoom currently). As well as having a say in how the organisation is run, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your profile in the local area. Get in touch if you’d like to know more.

Don’t forget our Recommend a Friend scheme, it is great to see ISSBA members benefiting from this. Any current ISSBA member will get one month's free membership for each new member they recommend, plus the new member also gets one free month, so Win-Win! There are no limits to how many referrals each ISSBA member can make as long as you have a current, paid up membership, so if you bring in 12 new members, you'll get a whole year for free!

GoCardless is making the renewal process much easier for many of our members. If you haven’t signed up yet, either let us know on mail@issba.co.uk or keep an eye on your inbox for an authorisation request. GoCardless is a direct debit system fully protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee and means that you never need to worry about forgetting to renew again.  By signing up to this you will help your committee save valuable time in chasing renewals, so please, if you aren’t already signed up, please do!
