These are run by Suffolk Mind who we’re working with on the Menopause & Me project. The University of Suffolk has recently carried out an evaluation into how beneficial these courses are.
One in 10 women who have been employed during the menopause have left work due to menopause symptoms, and eight out of 10 women say their employer hasn’t shared information, trained staff, or put in place a menopause absence policy. Through our programme, we’re asking local employers to sign up to a menopause pledge which includes specialist free training to help them better understand how they can create a more menopause-friendly workplace for their staff. So far 87 employers have taken the pledge and 69 have completed the courses.
The University of Suffolk research found that:
- 84% of employers who filled in their survey said they have changed their behaviour as a result of the Menopause and Me training
- 67% said they have changed the way their organisation does things as a result of the training. This includes encouraging training for employees, creating and implementing a menopause policy, and having more confidence to manage menopause related issues at work.

- Thurs 26th September, 9.30am – 4pm
- Thurs 7th November, 9.30am – 4pm
- Tues 14th January 2025, 9,30am – 4pm
- Wed 19th February 2025, 9.30am – 4pm
- Thurs 27th March 2025, 9.30am – 4pm
To take advantage of this training, employers need to sign up to the Menopause & Me pledge via the Suffolk Libraries website and someone will be in touch to discuss booking you in for a course.
