Our Charity

Charity of the year 2026 - 2027

Each year the ISSBA committee selects a charity to support for the year ahead. This year we are delighted to announce that we will be supporting Brave Futures.

About Brave Futures

Brave Futures Full Stacked Col 500wBrave Futures is a specialist service supporting children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse. We work with children and their families to help them manage the impact of trauma and, most importantly, rebuild their lives and regain their childhoods.

One of the things that makes our service different is that we are not time limited. We don't believe children should be expected to fix everything in ten sessions. We are there for as long as support is needed, and young people can return to us right up until the age of 21.

Sadly, the reality is that around one in ten children will experience sexual abuse, although many professionals believe the true figure is closer to one in six. That means that in a typical classroom of 30 children, between three and five children will either have experienced abuse, be experiencing it, or are at risk of experiencing it.

Each year we support between 200 to 400 children and young people, but we know, based on the 1 in 10 statistic there are over 15000 children across Suffolk who need our help. That's why support from local businesses and organisations is so important if we are to reach every child who desperately needs our help to move from victim to survivor.
