Chair Report - April 2021

ISSBA Chair, Graham Barton, offers a snapshot of the latest ISSBA news

Graham BartonHello all. Welcome to our April newsletter. Firstly, we’d like to wish everyone that re-opened their business on 12th April every success and we are keeping everything crossed for the next stage of the roadmap out of lockdown.

Anglia Business Exhibition will now take place on 7th September 2021 at Trinity Park. Since announcing the change of date, excitement has been very high and bookings/enquiries are coming in fast. If you haven’t already booked, book soon so you don’t miss out. 2021 will be the 25th anniversary of the exhibition so join us in celebrating this special milestone. Stand prices start at just £195 plus VAT and we also have some fantastic sponsor packages available. Visit to book or email for further info. Read the full update on ABE21 here.

Thank you to everyone that attended our March networking event. We had an excellent turnout and in addition to networking, we tried something slightly different by way of a group discussion, inviting questions and responses from attendees. Read a full review of the event here.

Our next event takes place on 28th April and we look forward to welcoming you for a free, online networking event. Non members are also welcome so why not invite your contacts so they can find out what ISSBA is all about. Book your place here.

Next week, we are looking forward to Stowmarket Chamber’s Bounce Back for Business event which takes place virtually from 20th to 22nd April. ISSBA are proud to be sponsoring this event and our April Member of the Month, Kate Kelly (Business Plumber), tells us all about it.

Our Hospitality and Leisure Industry Focus Group which was launched earlier this year is now well underway. Read an update on the group here and find out how you can get involved.

Would you like to join the ISSBA committee? If so, let us know on as we currently have openings for a couple of new members to join our team. We are a friendly bunch and usually meet once per month (via Zoom currently!). As well as having a say in how the organisation is run, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your profile in the local area. Get in touch if you’d like to know more.

Don’t forget our Recommend a Friend scheme, it is great to see ISSBA members benefiting from this. Any current ISSBA member will get one month's free membership for each new member they recommend, plus the new member also gets one free month, so Win-Win! There are no limits to how many referrals each ISSBA member can make as long as you have a current, paid up membership, so if you bring in 12 new members, you'll get a whole year for free!

GoCardless is making the renewal process much easier for many of our members. If you haven’t signed up yet, either let us know on or keep an eye on your inbox for an authorisation request. GoCardless is a direct debit system fully protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee and means that you never need to worry about forgetting to renew again.  By signing up to this you will help your committee save valuable time in chasing renewals, so please, if you aren’t already signed up, please do!

Don’t forget that if you have any suggestions/comments or would like to be considered for a future Member of the Month feature or you would like to write a business focus piece, please get in touch on

Keep well and stay safe!
