Chair Report - March 2021

ISSBA Chair, Graham Barton, offers a snapshot of the latest ISSBA news

Graham BartonHello all. Welcome to our March newsletter. We are all very excited this month that we will soon be able to see you all again in person following the new roadmap for lifting lockdown restrictions announced by the government recently!

Anglia Business Exhibition will now take place on 7th September 2021 at Trinity Park and exhibitor stands are already over 70% sold! 2021 will be the 25th anniversary of the exhibition so join us in celebrating this special milestone. Stand prices start at just £195 plus VAT and we also have some fantastic sponsor packages available. Visit to book or email for further info. Read the full update on ABE21 here.

Thank you to everyone that attended our February Sales & Marketing Workshop. It was a very interesting and enjoyable event with three excellent speakers. Read my full review of the event.

Our next event takes place on 24th March and we look forward to welcoming you for a free, online networking event. Non members are also welcome so why not invite your contacts so they can find out what ISSBA is all about. Book your place here.

The Chancellor announced the Spring Budget 2021 earlier this month and MHA Larking Gowen have provided us with a full explanation of how these changes affect businesses and individuals. Read the article here.

Our March Member of the Month is The Bridge Marketing. This month they tell us about a new project that brings together local businesses to support the next generation of Suffolk entrepreneurs.

Would you like to join the ISSBA committee? If so, let us know on as we currently have openings for a couple of new members to join our team. We are a friendly bunch and usually meet once per month (via Zoom currently!). As well as having a say in how the organisation is run, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your profile in the local area. Get in touch if you’d like to know more.

Don’t forget our Recommend a Friend scheme, it is great to see ISSBA members benefiting from this. Any current ISSBA member will get one month's free membership for each new member they recommend, plus the new member also gets one free month, so Win-Win! There are no limits to how many referrals each ISSBA member can make as long as you have a current, paid up membership, so if you bring in 12 new members, you'll get a whole year for free!

GoCardless is making the renewal process much easier for many of our members. If you haven’t signed up yet, either let us know on or keep an eye on your inbox for an authorisation request. GoCardless is a direct debit system fully protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee and means that you never need to worry about forgetting to renew again.  By signing up to this you will help your committee save valuable time in chasing renewals, so please, if you aren’t already signed up, please do!

Don’t forget that if you have any suggestions/comments or would like to be considered for a future Member of the Month feature or you would like to write a business focus piece, please get in touch on

Keep well and stay safe!
