Chair Report - September 2020

ISSBA Chair, Graham Barton, offers a snapshot of the latest ISSBA news

Graham BartonHello all, welcome to the ISSBA September newsletter. We hope that you are all having a lovely summer and are starting to get back into the swing of things.

We are very excited to be holding our second ABE Virtual Summit on Tuesday 8th September. Make sure you’ve booked your place as it promises to be a value packed day.

Our Business Focus piece this month shares some really useful info on how you can get the most out of the ABE Virtual Summit. Read it here.

Thanks to everyone that attended our August networking event. We had a great turnout and enjoyed having a look around Airmeet, the platform we will be using for our Virtual Summit event.

Prestige Bars have recently launched The Smoke House Kitchen. As our September member of the month, they tell us all about their range of home-smoked produce.

Would you like to join the ISSBA committee? If so, let us know on as we currently have openings for a couple of new members to join our team. We are a friendly bunch and usually meet once per month (via Zoom currently!). As well as having a say in how the organisation is run, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your profile in the local area. Get in touch if you’d like to know more.

Anglia Business Exhibition 2020 has been postponed until 12th May 2021 due to the government guidance that conference centres are not allowed to open until 1st October at the earliest. 2021 will be the 25th anniversary of the exhibition so join us in celebrating this special milestone. Make sure you’ve booked your stand, prices start at just £195 plus VAT and they are selling quickly. Visit to book or email for further info or to discuss sponsorship packages. Read our latest ABE news here!

Don’t forget our Recommend a Friend scheme, it is great to see ISSBA members benefiting from this. Any current ISSBA member will get one month's free membership for each new member they recommend, plus the new member also gets one free month, so Win-Win! There are no limits to how many referrals each ISSBA member can make as long as you have a current, paid up membership, so if you bring in 12 new members, you'll get a whole year for free!

GoCardless is making the renewal process much easier for many of our members. If you haven’t signed up yet, either let us know on or keep an eye on your inbox for an authorisation request. GoCardless is a direct debit system fully protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee and means that you never need to worry about forgetting to renew again.  By signing up to this you will help your committee save valuable time in chasing renewals, so please, if you aren’t already signed up, please do!

Don’t forget that if you have any suggestions/comments or would like to be considered for a future Member of the Month feature or you would like to write a business focus piece, please get in touch on

Keep well and stay safe!

Graham Barton, ISSBA Chair
